The Science Factory Internship

Summer 2023, Woodland hills

The Science Factory was where I had the opportunity to combine engineering with storytelling. From building a solar-powered bodysuit that charged phones on Hollywood Blvd to designing a human-sized saltwater battery, every project was about sparking curiosity and making science fun. Working on video content taught me how to present technical ideas in an engaging and accessible way, and introduced me to the world of sharing innovation with a wider audience. I am grateful for my time spent generating videos alongside Nick Uhas himself, utilizing engineering and science to create entertainment.

Air Purifier Sponsorship

For this sponsorship, we used smoke grenades to throw in our isochoric chamber to see if it could purify the air. I helped set up shots and conduct the experiment.

Solar Boy.

This is by far the most fun and impressive project from the internship; together with Luke, I hardwired over 100 solar panels and attached them to phone charger adapters. We then pinned all of these to a wetsuit, which Luke walked around on Hollywood Boulevard, charging people's phones. It actually worked!

Solar Boy, the full project.

In this full-length video, sponsored by Toyota, we tested multiple methods to generate electricity, from building a human-sized saltwater battery to a device that harnesses power from biking around the neighborhood. This is also what we made the solar boy outfit for in the previous shown short.
